Introduction to BMX

About bmx

BMX stands for Bicycle Moto Cross and is one of the fastest growing sports in Australia. In 2008 the sport debuted at the Olympic Games.

It is a sport the whole family can enjoy. Anyone can race with age classes ranging from 2 to 50+. Girls and boys, Mums and Dads, can all participate.

All you need is a bike, a full face helmet, gloves, a long sleeve shirt, and long pants.

Participation can be on many levels, from having fun at club meets to competing interstate and overseas.

There are currently 3 clubs in the state, Launceston BMX Club & Wynyard BMX Park in the north & Southern City in the south.

About our club

Southern City BMX Club is Tasmania's only Southern BMX Club and is located in Pembroke Park at Sorell

Our club has just over 100 members and we have riders ageing from 2 years old through to 60+ years making our club one of the most inclusive sports available.

The Club prides itself on the family atmosphere that is created on race days and at trainings; we invite anyone who is interested to come along & get involved in BMX at Southern City.
