The Committee is excited to announce that Southern City BMX has just secured funding to purchase our own transponders setup through the help of the Rotary Club of Glenorchy at a cost of $9,357

Our track will be receiving a three loop setup which will allow us to run transponders at each race meet. Loop one and two will record race time’s and positions and then loop three will be installed at the end of the first strait and will be available for use on training/gate nights to help our coaching staff improve our riders gate practice, reaction and sprint times by providing real time data back to our coaching staff.

Paul Berry, Rotary Board Member said “After meeting Michael and Patrick back in November last year, we are so impressed in what the club has been able to achieved in such a few short months. Supporting their request for funding to help with a new scoring system was the perfect project for Rotary to be apart of and the Rotary Club is excited to see the system in full action come their Clash for Cash event in late September”

In addition in the coming weeks we will be trialling Sqorz for our race day scoring system as this software will provide live finish times directly to any person who has the Sqorz app installed on their phone plus load all results automatically to our new and exciting website that is currently under development.

The committee is excited as to what this means for our riders but also as what it means for our officials/volunteers because it will allow them to train using the software and transponder equipment allowing us to have a much better understanding as to how it works so our club members are able to assist at other events held within the state.

This project is another massive step forward for the club and is just one of the many exciting things that will be happening at SCBMXC throughout 2019 so if you have been thinking of getting into BMX, or looking at potentially re-joining the sport then this is the year to do it!
